The year marches on and our kitchen garden is now bursting with produce for the Tancred Farm shop. Alongside our fantastically fresh salad and vegetables you will find plenty of other excellent produce; from English summer fruits to locally made chutney for your sausages. We are also very proud to bring you our latest product – British grown bird seed from Lincolnshire.

The middle of August heralds the last leg of school holidays so if you are running out of ways to entertain the kids why not get them having fun in the kitchen? As a healthy source of protein, iron and many other vital nutrients, our lean beef makes great homemade burgers. Or try our Yorkshire sourced chickens in this tasty and child friendly fajita recipe from Good Food magazine.

It has been a while since we reminded you so don’t forget that we hand cure all of of bacon and ham joints. Next to our handmade sausages and free range eggs we can supply you with everything you need for a great British breakfast and you will still find our great value summer meat packs at £10.00 for five items. Perfect for the barbeque or under the grill should the weather let you down. If you are looking to try something a little more unusual we are now stocking our seasonal cuts of goat. There is a limited supply so get in early for the chance to try this delicious meat popular in Caribbean and North African cuisine.

If you’re the last person to be standing over a stove in warmer weather then let the Tancred Farm Café do the hard work for you. Our small team of staff are on hand to provide you with a delicious meal from morning to tea time, with a choice of hot and cold meals, sandwiches and cakes to please everyone. Ask on the day to see which dishes we have on our specials board.

Please remember – if you simply cannot get to us in Whixley this month – you will still find us in our regular farmer’s market spots in Briggate, Chapel Allerton and York Shambles market throughout August.
